One of the most specialist companies dealing in the world of underwater camera equipment is Sea&Sea. Within its range of products are two digital compacts and a selection of underwater housings for DSLR’s. The compacts are specifically targeted for use underwater and have bespoke housings.
The DX-1G is a 10 megapixel compact, looking very much the same design and specification as the Ricoh GX100, a compact aimed at the serious user and, therefore a promising sign for quality underwater use. With the housing the DX-1G will set you back around £635 so it isn’t a cheap product. You can even get an optional wide-angle converter lens for this camera that can be attached underwater.
The DX-860G is a 6.2 megapixel compact with a 3x optical zoom that would be perfect for beginners. It comes in a stylish blue finish and the underwater package includes the 45 housing.
Within Sea & Sea’s selection of housings is the MDX-40D which fits the Canon EOS 40D.
