The size and detail of an image is down to its resolution, the the more you have the better it should be. Resolution on a digital camera is calculated by the number of usable photo diodes (pixels), a Silicon sensor chip (CCD) which is then quoted as a megapixel rating. The megapixel rating is listed as a number such as 10.1 megapixel which is a sensor containing 10 million light diodes. The size of the sensor may also be quoted as the larger the physical size of the chip, the better the image quality will be. Do not be fooled into thinking that the megapixel rating is all you need to look for as a great camera can have a large sensor combined with a great lens to deliver quality images.
