The a200 is Sony’s new entry-level DSLR camera and features a 10.2 megapixel APS-sized CCD, a 2.7 inch LCD and an ISO range of ISO 100-3200.
It benefits from an anti-shake system, Super Steady Shot, which reduces camera shake with all Sony Alpha lenses and A-mount bayonet lenses from both Minolta and Konica Minolta. It works with an in-camera CCD-shift mechanism that can be activated manually and it can deliver around a 2.3-5EV decrease in shutter speed.
Its outer shell isn’t the most refined as its plastic finish feels cheaper than its competition. That said, it still feels well put together and durable enough, with no loose fittings or unsightly rattles evident.
The design of the a200 is ergonomic and comfortable to operate. It has deep grip and the straightforward layout of its controls enables rapid adjustments of the camera’s settings. Two particularly handy features include the Fn button that allows quick access to such settings as the D-Range Optimiser and the AF, flash, white balance and metering modes.
This is certainly one of the easiest models to use and is suitable for both savvy camera users an newcomers to DSLRs. It is available from many outlets including Argos digital camera stores. Impressive results can be achieved with minimum fuss by using all the usual manual and semi-automatic PASM exposure settings or by employing one of the fully automatic picture modes such as a sunset, night view or moving subject option.
