There are many clever technologies built into modern compact cameras: image stabilisers, face detection, red-eye fix to name but a few, and they all come in handy for enhancing your shots.
Image stabilisers, which are increasing in popularity are deigned to help reduce the blur caused by you moving the camera whilst taking a picture. There are two types: optical and digital. Optical is better as it doesn’t degrade the image quality. The digital systems adjust the ISO to allow the use of higher shutter speeds but this decreases image quality.
Another technology is face detection. These systems identify a face in the frame and ensure correct focus. Red-eye fix is another great feature. This automatically fixes those devil-like red eyes, saving you lots of time on your computer removing those red blobs.
